Get answers IN the field. NOW. Get answers FROM the field. NOW.

You might maintain a small facility or a dozen large plants. You might be a field service organization, an independent contractor, or a lone consultant. No matter where you work, no matter how you work, the exclusive Datastick SiteConnex VSA-2215, VSA-2216, and VSA-2217 systems open the door to increased efficiency and cost savings while you maintain and improve machine reliability.

Datastick® SiteConnex™ collaboration technology enables you to connect any inspection site to any decision site in seconds.

Now, any inspector at any site can take vibration measurements on this full-featured vibration analyzer / data collector, view them on a sharp color screen, and then email the vibration data to anyone else: a plant manager, an analyst at a central facility, a consultant—anyone. Right away.

And, using the same handheld system, you can talk about the data on the phone—even make conference calls—and get written information, instructions, repair authorizations, procedures, test result confirmations, or any other information you need verbally over the phone or in the form of email or text messages. Immediately.

No going back to the office. No lugging a laptop around. Response time is dramatically improved, redundant trips are all but eliminated, and the time and cost savings are immense.

This is the future. It’s starting now.

VSA-2215, VSA-2216, VSA-2217
Description

The VSA-2215, VSA-2216, and VSA-2217 Vibration Spectrum Analyzers are high-performance handheld vibration analyzer / data collectors. Despite their low cost and ease of use, they have features and capabilities comparable to analyzers costing three times as much, or more.

The VSA hardware module attaches to a powerful Palm® Treo™ smartphone and has a standard BNC connector and low-noise input that accommodates and powers almost any ICP®-type piezoelectric accelerometer or velocity sensor. The VSA-2215, VSA-2216, and VSA-2217 include Datastick SpectrumSC handheld software, an integrated handheld email application, and Datastick Reporting System™ PC software.

The VSA-2215, VSA-2216, and VSA-2217 record and display vibration FFT spectra in acceleration, velocity, and displacement, as well as acceleration waveforms. They also record and display overall vibration with color-coded ISO alert levels, or you can set your own alert levels, more specifically suited to your machines. AND they have the unique capability of enabling the user to email data files—including waveform and FFT spectra—directly from the handheld. For a full description of its capabilities, see the description of Datastick SpectrumSC handheld software.

You Control the Power

The VSA hardware module contains its own rechargeable Li-ion battery and advanced power management capabilities that put you in full control of sensor power — allowing you to determine the exact amount of power output to the sensor. You can easily go all day on a single charge.

An optional 4800 mA/h rechargeable external battery pack is available if you need more power, and it gives you the added benefit of powering BOTH the VSAmodule and the Palm Treo smartphone. For more information, please see the full description of the VSA module.

Extremely Low Noise

noisefloor VSA-2215, VSA-2216, and VSA-2217 do exceptionally well at finding low-level, low-frequency peaks. The screen shot at left shows a typical noise floor at 4 Hz on a velocity spectrum made with an accelerometer is 0.0013 inches per second in the
2 g input range. If you need even lower noise, the VSA-2215, VSA-2216, and VSA-2217 accept ICP-type velocity sensors as well as accelerometers. For more information, please see the full description of the VSA module.

Sharp Color Display and Secure Storage

The Palm Treo has a bright, razor-sharp 320 x 320 pixel screen. The Palm Treo also features 60 MB of nonvolatile memory which keeps your data safe even if the battery drains all the way (which is highly unlikely, due to its efficient power management).

Virtually Unlimited Storage and Communication Flexibility

The VSA-2215, VSA-2216, and VSA-2217 provides virtually unlimited, extremely secure storage capacity. In addition to the Palm Treo's handheld's 60 MB of nonvolatile memory — which will hold approximately 1500 spectra or waveforms — the VSAs also let you record data directly to a Secure Digital (SD) memory card, which you can insert into the handheld computer. The VSAs support SD cards of up to 2 GB capacity, and you can use as many cards as you like — you'll never run out of space.

At the end of the day, simply insert the SD card into a card reader on your PC to export the handheld data to your PC, or you can use the Palm handheld's HotSync® feature single to export data to your PC with a touch of a button. With another couple of mouse-clicks, your data is imported into Datastick Reporting System software on the PC for analysis, trending, reporting, and archiving.

And of course, before the day is over, you can email a file to an analyst, consultant, manager, supervisor, or client and get an answer back in the form of a phone call, email, or text message while you're still at the site.

Compact size, high performance, and the simple operation of the Datastick Spectrum software make the VSA-2215, VSA-2216, and VSA-2217 an excellent vibration analyzer / data collector solution for demanding troubleshooting and field service applications.

VSA-2216
Description and Applications
