The Datastick Reporting System solves the problem of getting data out of a hand-held data acquisition device and into your PC, once and for all.

It is an easy, intuitive way to get measurement data out of your Palm handheld and onto your desktop — and beyond — in a hurry. The center of the system is a custom Microsoft Excel workbook that automatically locates Datastick measurement data on your PC and pulls it into a single spreadsheet.

The Datastick Reporting System is a platform for managing and publishing Datastick measurement data. Because it is based on an Excel workbook, it's completely open and all of Microsoft’s Office and enterprise tools are available to take your data anywhere — down the hall or around the world. You can incorporate it in database systems, publish the data on the web, and dynamically merge the data with other data to create a Big Picture.

How it Works

The Datastick Report System is easy to use:

1. Measure something. Incoming data on your Palm handheld is stored by Datastick Connection software in a proprietary format on your Palm handheld.

2. Push a button. When you have finished data acquisition, you simply place your Palm handheld into its HotSync cradle attached to your PC and push the HotSync button.

A special Datastick-developed software conduit translates the proprietary data into a file that Excel can read, copies it to your PC, launches Microsoft Excel on your PC and loads the data into the Datastick Reporting System workbook.

If you have created multiple Datastick Connection measurement databases on your Palm handheld, each database loads into its own spreadsheet in the workbook.

3. Customize your report. Once the measurement data is in the workbook, you can view it directly and you can manipulate it in virtually any way you choose, using standard built-in Excel functions as well as your own custom macros. And of course you can bring the data into Word, PowerPoint, and Access, and industry-standard database systems.
