Datastick Systems, Inc., is the leader in PDA-based test and measurement hardware and software. Using handheld computers with the appropriate Datastick® hardware module and Datastick software enables the collection, display, recording, and storage of measurement data, and easy export to Datastick software on the PC, where further analysis can be done, as well as publishing the data to the enterprise and web.

The typical Datastick system consists of a module that snaps onto a handheld computer, Datastick software that runs on the handheld, and Datastick software for the PC. Microsoft Excel is required on the desktop PC.

Vibration Analysis

Datastick VSA-Series portable Vibration Spectrum Analyzers are designed to make it easy for all companies—large and small—to acheive increased machinery health, reliability, and productivity through vibration analysis in predictive maintenance. VSA-Series vibration analyzers are affordable and so easy to use than many users are up and running two hours after opening the box.

VSA™-1214 Vibration Spectrum Analyzer

The Datastick VSA-1214 Vibration Spectrum Analyzer is a low-cost, value-packed handheld portable vibration analyzer / data collector designed for companies, utilities, and municipalities that are just getting started in predictive maintenance (PdM) as part of a reliability centered maintenance program, or who want to augment existing PdM programs by measuring machine vibration in an extremely cost-effective manner. It accepts standard industrial ICP®-type accelerometers and has a maximum frequency capability of 10 kHz and a maximum spectrum resolution of 1,600 lines. It is based on the Palm TX handheld computer running the ACCESS Garnet operating system.

VSA-1215, VSA-1216, VSA-1217 Vibration Spectrum Analyzers

The Datastick VSA-1215, VSA-1216, and VSA-1217 handheld portable Vibration Spectrum Analyzers offer twice the maximum-frequency capability (20 kHz) and twice the maximum vibration spectrum resolution (3,200 lines) compared to the VSA-1214. They are based on the Palm TX handheld computer running the ACCESS Garnet operating system.

  • VSA-1215: accepts standard industrial ICP®-type accelerometers and velocity sensors for measuring machine vibration.
  • VSA-1216: accepts standard industrial ICP®-type accelerometers, velocity sensors, and pressure sensors and accepts input from properly conditioned displacement sensors and and conditioned signals from displacement-based systems (such as those by Bently Nevada) for measuring machine vibration and balancing pump flow.
  • VSA-1217: accepts standard industrial ICP®-type accelerometers, velocity sensors, and pressure sensors and accepts input from properly conditioned displacement sensors and conditioned signals from displacement-based systems, such as those by Bently Nevada — and can perform automatically triggered level-sensitive reads for impact testing.

VSA-1225, VSA-1226, VSA-1227 Vibration Spectrum Analyzers

The Datastick VSA-1225, VSA-1226, and VSA-1227 handheld portable Vibration Spectrum Analyzers are similar in capabilities to the VSA1215, VSA1216, and VSA-1217, but are based on HP iPAQ handheld computes running the Windows Mobile operating system.

  • VSA-1225: accepts standard industrial ICP®-type accelerometers and velocity sensors.
  • VSA-1226:accepts standard industrial ICP®-type accelerometers, velocity sensors, and pressure sensors and accepts input from properly conditioned displacement sensors and and conditioned signals from displacement-based systems (such as those by Bently Nevada) for measuring machine vibration and balancing pump flow.
  • VSA-1227: accepts standard industrial ICP®-type accelerometers, velocity sensors, and pressure sensors and accepts input from properly conditioned displacement sensors and and conditioned signals from displacement-based systems, such as those by Bently Nevada — and can perform automatically triggered level-sensitive reads for impact testing.

All VSA Systems Include

  • Datastick Spectrum software for the handheld computer. Datastick Spectrum software is sophisticated, yet extremely simple to operate. It enables simultaneous views of overall vibration, auto-detected spectrum peaks, and FFT displays with numerous windowing options and a full array of cursor tools for examining data on the handheld.
  • Datastick Reporting System for VSA, runs on a PC within Microsoft Excel and provides a wide choice of options for viewing, analyzing, trending, sharing, and reporting vibration data.

Optional Vibration Software

  • Datastick InSpect™ software for the handheld computer. Datastick InSpect makes it easy to set up an inspection route on a PC, download it to the handheld computer, and upload the collected data to the PC.
  • DAART™ (Datastick Advanced Analysis and Reporting Toolkit) runs on a PC and provides vibration analysts with an impressive array of powerful, advanced vibration analysis tools including Datastick's exclusive PulseDomain™ demodulation, Cepstrum, Power Sprectral Density, Bearing Database Integration, and more.

Balancing

BAL-2000™ Balancing System

The BAL-2000 is portable two-plane balancing system is exceptionally easy to use. It is powered by the USB port on a laptop or PC, which in turn powers its phase-reference laser tachometer and one or two ICP®-type accelerometers.

General-Purpose Data Acquisition

Datastick DAS-1254 and DAS-1294 data acquisition modules for Palm Tungsten series handhelds provide four (DAS-1254) or eight (DAS-1294) analog input channels, one digital counter, one digital input line, and two digital output lines. When used with Datastick Connection, Datastick Connection Lite, or Datastick Connection Plus software, these devices provide a complete, real-time data acquisition system.

DAS Systems Include

  • Datastick Connection Lite basic data acquisition software displays sensor data in real time with user-definable sample rates. The software provides a real-time strip-chart emulation display with adjustable lines and symbols. Datastick Connection Lite is included with the DAS-1254 and DAS-1294 modules.

Optional DAS Software

  • Datastick Connection 3.5 software displays sensor data in real time with user-definable sample rates. The software provides four viewing modes for real-time display: numeric display; real-time bar graph with adjustable patterns; gauge view with virtual needle movements or real-time strip-chart emulation. Datastick Connection 3.5 includes the Datastick Reporting System for DAS.
  • Datastick Connection Plus 3.5 offers all the functionality of Datastick Connection software, plus an enhanced feature set, including three alarms per channel, channel assignment, digital control logic, and level-sensitive automatic data logging. Datastick Connection Plus 3.5 includes the Datastick Reporting System for DAS.

Instant Desktop Integration into Excel

Datastick Connection 3.5 and Datastick Connection Plus 3.5 feature Datastick Reporting System — a customizable Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for your desktop PC, and documentation for publishing data in industry-standard databases for desktop or enterprise use. Recorded data from Datastick software fills the spreadsheet on your PC with two quick mouse clicks. It’s a fast, easy gateway to all of Microsoft Office for reporting, presentation, publication, and archiving.

All Datastick Connection software allows easy transfer of data to a personal computer, using Palm's HotSync technology or direct copy from SD memory cards.
